Incorporated in 1903, the City of Pinole celebrated its Centennial Anniversary on June 25, 2003. To commemorate this historic occasion, the City established a Centennial committee to plan events throughout the year. Some of the events the City hosted were Mardi Gras Dance in conjunction with the Library, a Cinqo de Mayo Celebration, a Period Costume Ball, and an historic Open House and Walking Tour, which featured tours of both the Downer Mansion and the Fernandez Mansion.

On the actual birthday of the City, June 25th, the current City Council hosted a Flag Ceremony conducted by the Boy Scouts of Pinole, followed by an actual reenactment of the first City Council Meeting.

Some of the other events included the Festival of the Arts, the Northern California Cruisers’ Car Show, and an Independence Day Festival in Fernandez Park.

In addition to its natural setting, City of Pinole is known for its rich architectural heritage and historic past. We invite you to learn more about Pinole's history - it's a treasure that belongs to us all.
